At the time, the city's zoning limit was less than 100 feet and no more than 1,000 rooms.ĭuring construction, a new 365-room expansion was being added to the hotel tower. 32 feet of the hotel's tower was shaved off to resort with the city's height limit. Later in 2004, issues with the height of the hotel were being held. The resort was also planned to employee more than 2,000 employees.

The resort, which planned to cater towards both locals and tourists was scheduled to open late 2005. Planned was a nightclub, 10 restaurants, a 16-screen Regal Cinemas, a childcare facility, and a 'backyard' area including a pool-side cafe and two pool-side bars. Groundbreaking for Red Rock Station began on April 2004, with an expected $400 million cost.

Originally, an outdoor reflective pool was planned for the hotel, but was rejected by Clark County's planning staff, saying that it would violate adopted drought ordinances.ĭespite approval for the new hotel and casino, criticism ensued by locals of Summerlin and the nearby Red Rock Canyon immediately, most of it concerning how the new 300-feet towers could obstruct views of the nearby mountains. The new hotel would include a 23-story tower and two 15-story towers in phases, containing 1,000 hotel rooms and 500 time-share units, including a 90,000 square feet casino, a 3,404-space parking garage, 344,890 square feet of office space, retail shops, restaurants, movie theatre, and an amiptheater. On October 9, 2003, Station Casinos announced that new hotel, casino, and entertainment complex would be built at Charleston Boulevard and the Las Vegas Beltway in Summerlin named 'Red Rock Station'. The casino is known for it's controversial past during construction, with many people thinking that Red Rock would ruin the normal lives for the locals in Summerlin. This resort is also Station Casino's flagship property, since it's company is headquartered inside the property. The hotel is named after Red Rock Mountains, due to how close they both are to each other, not to mention it's desert theme being thrown in with the casino's modernity. The hotel is owned by the Station Casinos corporation and opened back in 2006. Red Rock is an 830-room resort and casino located on 11011 West Charleston Boulevard in Summerlin, Nevada.
